Extraction tools were developed for removing contacts from cable housing. The following pints should always be considered:
Before removing a contact from its housing, inspection of the housing for secondary locking mechanisms is essential.
Typical secondary locking mechanisms include small flaps or attachments to the cable side of the housing or colourful positioners that are fixed between the contacts.
These secondary locking mechanisms should be opened or removed.
Light counter pressure of cable facilitates extraction, since the detents located on the housing floor become loose and are thus easier to extract.
